DogonVillage.com’s Tribute to Champions of Change at #DNCPhilly Party Celebrating Black Vote
Video tribute to Champions of Change in the Black community presented at DogonVillage.com’s #DNC Watch Party in Phili. It recognizes civil rights leaders who helped get the Voting Rights Act passed as well as women’s rights leaders, labor union leaders and community organizers who continue to make sure all citizens have a right to vote without barriers and fight for issues that impact people of color. Their work made it possible for the election of the first African American President, Barack Obama, and expanded opportunities for Blacks, Asians, Native Americans, Latinos, and women to become elected officials. They fight for issues like workers rights, voting rights, and criminal justice reform.
Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery, Rev. CT Vivian, Dr. Hazel Dukes, Salandra Benton, Lazone Grays and Richard Womack Jr are among those recognized.
Presented by the Laborers’ District Council of Philadelphia & Vicinity, the DogonVillage.com Party was one of the most exciting side events of the Democratic convention. Hosted by actress, Vivica A. Fox, TV Judge Greg Mathis stopped by to encourage people to vote, Grammy-winner, Howard Hewett performed, and it was broadcast live on SiriusXM’s The Joe Madison Show.
PLEASE HONOR THESE CHAMPIONS AND POST TO YOUR BLOG, WEBSITE, TWITTER OR FACEBOOK PAGE.
