Congressman Fattah Statement on October Jobs Report
Washington, DC – Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement on the October 2015 jobs numbers released today:
“Today’s job report is great news for the U.S. economy. The numbers released today indicate that the unemployment rate has dropped to 5%, the lowest in the last seven years, while the economy added 268,000 private sector jobs. The October numbers sustain what is already the longest streak on record of private sector job growth—now at 68 months—and represent the largest monthly gain of the year.
“October’s numbers are impressive, but we know that there is still much more we can do to ensure that every individual who wants a job can find one. It is imperative that we build upon bipartisanship and partner with the Obama administration to set foundations that will work for everyone. Last week, major progress was made as Republicans and Democrats came together to support a bipartisan budget deal. We must make good on this compromise, and work together in the last two months of this year to ensure that we are investing in education, jobs training, and other programs that will help our middle-class families succeed in today’s economy.”
