Sunni & Her Hip Hop Bunny Children’s Book Series Merges Arts with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math

0

Sunni & Her Hip Hop Bunny (the children’s book series) merges Arts (Hip Hop) with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) to create fun and colorful children’s books that teach and inspire. Hip-Hop transcends cultural barriers and engages all children while enabling them to develop personal connections to concepts like S.T.E.M. Early exposure to S.T.E.A.M. cultivates creativity, develops problem solving skills, and encourages teamwork.

The Sunni & Her Hip Hop Bunny series, kicks off with an “Earth Day Every Day”theme that follows its main characters, Sunni and Steamy, on a rhythmic, magical adventure as Sunni learns all about the 3Rs (Recycle, Reuse, Reduce). She then applies this knowledge to create a project for the Earth Day Fair. This educational tool includes Sunni’s lab notebook which encourages the involvement of parents, teachers and children as they recreate Sunni’s Earth Day project! The high spirited theme song for the series has been recorded by the Queen of Hip Hop herself, Da Brat.

Lucy Ra’oof and Ashia Duprey are the Hip Hop and S.T.E.M. duo behind Sunni & Her Hip Hop Bunny.

Lucy, or “Juice,”as she’s affectionately known in the industry, is one of the most prolific management executives in Hip Hop having over 25 years of experience. With the trending absence of “Arts” in the schools, Lucy feels strongly that the series’fusion of Hip Hop and education brings a focus on art integration, which in her opinion makes learning more enjoyable for children.

Ashia is a philanthropist, former high school science educator, and mother of two. Ashia is a passionate advocate for the teaching of STEM curricula through non-traditional teaching methods. She firmly believes STEM education is an important gateway to broader career opportunities for youth in the 21st century.
