Green Team of English Avenue Helps to Revitalize Struggling Neighborhood
English avenue and vine city were once known as the most affluent black neighborhoods in America with the largest concentration of historically black colleges and universities. Major development displaced families and increased flooding, sewage backups, and lead contamination.
Annie Moore, founder and director of operations at Green Team of English Avenue Inc, says residents sounded the alarm for years, now they found a way to be a part of the solution.
The green team of English Avenue is a non-profit that was created by grassroots organizations in residence in English Avenue to maintain our green infrastructure in our neighborhood of three parks, Mattie Freeland, Kathryn Johnston and Lindsay Street park.
