Senator Orrin Hatch Said he has a “Rough Time Wanting to Spend Billions and Billions and Trillions of Dollars to Help People Who Won’t Help Themselves
Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) should be ashamed of himself for insinuating that recipients of The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provides health coverage won’t lift a finger to help themselves. Senator Hatch claims he was once poor and takes credit for inventing CHIP so it’s hard to understand why he seems to believe people are satisfied being poor. I’m glad to hear that he may be retiring since it sounds like he is very much out-of-touch with the reality of everyday people in America. Perhaps that’s why the elitist Republican Senators think people making under $75 thousand dollars per year should pay more taxes to give rich people a tax break. Of course its their fault those deadbeats work 50 hours per week for $10 an hour. Make them pay more taxes for being mooches. What an uppity snob!
Senator Hatch said, “I believe in helping those who cannot help themselves, but would if they could. I have a rough time wanting to spend billions and billions and trillions of dollars to help people who won’t help themselves – won’t lift a finger – and expect the federal government to do everything.”
I happen to know some people who benefited from CHIP– college graduates working two jobs, neither providing health insurance. Are we so insensitive we think people who want health coverage for their children are basically freeloaders? Unlike you guys in DC, many of the jobs in America don’t provide health insurance and don’t pay enough for people to buy insurance on their own. I guess Senator Hatch is of the mindset, I got mine, now you get yours. Shame on you!
