Veteran Political Strategist Donna Brazile to give Keynote at 10th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference
Las Vegas, NV – The MGM Resorts Foundation is pleased to announce Donna Brazile as a keynote speaker at the 10th annual Women’s Leadership Conference. Hosted by MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) and the MGM Resorts Foundation, the 2016 conference will be held Aug. 8 & 9 at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
One of today’s most admired and well-known political strategists, Brazile is the former campaign manager for Gore-Lieberman 2000, as well as the first African-American to lead a major presidential campaign. A dynamic and sought-after speaker, Brazile uses her varied and diverse experiences to drive points home with captivating storytelling marked with refreshing humor, insight and passion.
“We are so excited to have Donna as a featured speaker at the conference. She’s had a pioneering career and is a great role model for our conference attendees,” said Phyllis James, Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer for MGM Resorts International.
Named among the 100 Most Powerful Women by Washingtonian magazine and one of the Top 50 Women in America by Essence magazine, Brazile recently received the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s highest award for political achievement. She is currently on the board of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, the National Democratic Institute, the Professional Diversity Network and the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. She also serves as Co-Chair for Democrats for Public Education and is Vice Chair for Civic Engagement and Voter Participation at the Democratic National Committee. She will attend her ninth Democratic political convention as an unpledged Super Delegate later this year.
Currently, Brazile is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, a columnist for Ms. Magazine, a regular on-air contributor to CNN, ABC, Essence magazine and O, The Oprah Magazine. Author of the best-selling memoir “Cooking with Grease: Stirring the Pots in American Politics,” Brazile is also the founder and managing director of Brazile & Associates LLC, a general consulting, grassroots advocacy, and training firm based in Washington, D.C.
A New Orleans native, Brazile was appointed by former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to serve on the Louisiana Recovery Board to help rebuild the state and to advocate for the Gulf recovery on the national stage. Brazile was recently appointed by Mitch Landrieu, Mayor of New Orleans, to serve on the Tricentennial Commission.
In August 2009, O, The Oprah Magazine chose Brazile as one of its 20 “remarkable visionaries” for the magazine’s first-ever O Power List.
