Mc+Company Advertising Dominates Digital Media Category at the ADDY Awards
New Orleans, LA – GMc+Company Inc. took home three Gold Awards from the recent 2010-11 ADDY® Award Show in addition to Best of Show in Digital Work, the top honor in one of the show’s most competitive categories. The awards showcase the agency’s success in digital marketing while solidifying its place as the top multicultural agency in the region.
All four awards were in recognition of the agency’s work for the Louisiana Office of Tourism promoting Louisiana’s African American Heritage Trail, a collection of 33 museums, heritage sites, institutions and cultural attractions throughout Louisiana (AStoryLikeNoOther.com).
The Gold Award for Consumer HTML was awarded for development of the trail’s website, AStoryLikeNoOther.com. A music video on the website’s homepage was specifically honored with a Gold Award for Music with Lyrics. GMc+Company developed and produced the video featuring Grammy Award winner Chris Thomas King with music by New Orleans composer Jay Weigel.
The Gold Award for Mobile Marketing was awarded for the heritage trail’s interactive iPhone app. Developed by GMc+Company, this is the first app of its kind promoting tourism in Louisiana. Titled LikeNoOther, the free app offers visitors directions to trail sites, maps, GPS, photos, and audio vignettes narrated by Academy Award-winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr. The agency won the Best of Show-Digital Work award for the overall marketing effort including development of the website and iPhone app.
“It says a lot that we continue to receive high honors from our peers for our work in digital media,” said Glenda English, agency principal. “Social media, apps, online-this is where advertising is today. We’re grateful to have clients that realize how critical it is not only to be active in the digital space, but to stand out.”
“The African American Heritage Trail is a key part of Louisiana’s multicultural tourism marketing,” said Melody Alijani, director of research and development for the Louisiana Office of Tourism. “From the beginning of this initiative, GMc+Company has helped us reach out to a diverse audience, to make our message relevant, and to deliver it in ways that will have the greatest impact.”
