Award to be presented as part of the “100 Year Anniversary of International Women’s Day” during two-day festivities

Los Angeles, CA – Cynthia Oredugba, member of the board of directors of Black Women for Wellness, is a 2011 recipient of the Women’s Information Network’s Award of Excellence. Oredugba will receive the award as part of two-day festivities recognizing the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day on March 7 and 8, 2011, at the Radisson Hotel at Los Angeles Airport. International Women’s Day is celebrated worldwide on March 8.

Oredugba has a long, well-documented career as a community activist dating from her undergraduate years at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She has served in a variety of roles in several organizations in the Los Angeles area including the Southern California Special Olympics and Children of War (West Coast). In addition to being a board member of Black Women for Wellness, she is also a member of the boards of the Community Health Council, The Stennis Family Foundation, and The City Club. She is currently the board chair for HerShe Group Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the successful transition of girls in foster care from adolescence to adulthood by exposing them to extraordinary experiences through the arts, mentorship, adventure, training and education.
