I am nearly 70 years old, a wife, a mother and a grandmother of seven ranging in age from 9 to 20. I am neither a hero nor a villain but just an average person trying to do a little bit for the environment.
Here is what I do on a weekly basis. I hope it helps you see that anyone can make some changes and hopefully benefit the world.
I recycle newspaper, glass and cans. I need to make things easy, so I use the city recyclers that pick up every other week.
My husband and I both keep cloth bags in the car and try to remember to take them in stores when we shop.
Of course, I am human, so I do forget. If I come home with plastic, I look for another use for it — trash can liners, lunch bags or gift bags.
I use compact fluorescent bulbs. Trust me — you do get used to them, and they do last longer. Read the full story here
